I owned a mini 30 ranch and a couple of mini 14s. They weren't particularly accurate so I sold them.
But the tacticals are advertised as having a heavier barrel which should reduce barrel whip.
How about it? Are they any better?
My Johnny Stewart caller is dead. It was a cassette w/rechargeable battery and 50 foot corded speaker.
Anyway, I'd like a cordless/remote model.
Recommendations?
Forget it. I've got the wrong sight combo to begin with.
That line from John Wayne is coming to mind: "Life's hard. It's even harder when you're stupid."
Thanx John.
I bought a used 30 cal rifle that has some serious copper fouling. I think it's copper fouling because no matter how much oil I put in it, it just stays shiney. I've never seen rust do that. Rust gets darker with oil.
So anyway, I bought the Hoppes Ultra Cleaning Kit and although it...
I want a single shot rifle. I was looking at the Browning but they don't really offer what I'm looking for.
Then I read that Winchester and Browning are now owned by the same company, are both made in Japan, and are essentially the same rifle.
But Winchester used to be owned by the United...
A read about a guy who had some powder go bad. I think he may have bought some "surplus" powder (which had already been sitting on a shelf before he got it) and then determined it was unusable.
Have you had a smokeless powder go bad? How long had you owned it? What kind of container was it...
How many of you have a field rifle with rust in the barrel?
I just bought a rifle off of a "trusted" guy on another forum. He said the wood had some dings (which it does) and the blue is good (which it is).
He neglected to tell me there's rust in the bore. No pits. And if you shine a bore...
I'm leaning heavily toward a Browning B-78 in 45-70 (mainly because I can't find a 30-06 without the right handed cheekpiece).
Gunbroker has the 78's offerings with 24 inch, 28 inch and 30 inch barrel lengths. Ignoring actual hunting conditions (thick woods vs. open plains), does one barrel...
Do GPS units do that? Let's say you're scouting unfamiliar terrain, find a spot and set up your stand.
Opening day, you're out well before sunrise and the terrain doesn't look familiar and you're having trouble finding your spot.
Do GPS units allow you to key in such locations?
If so...
Like, you wake up at 3 AM, eat breakfast, drive 1.5 hours to your designated area, etc.
Or, you book a room at the Motel 6, get up at 5, eat breakfast, etc.
What's your routine?
I'm contemplating buying a deer rifle (I've owned several, but sold/traded for whatever reason) and like the Marlin lever action.
The ones I like are the 16 inch, 18 inch or 20 inch barrels.
Is there truly that much of an advantage in portability in the 16 inch barrel over the 18 inch? Why...
I stopped hunting when I moved to The People's Republic of Kalifornia. Too much red tape.
I've moved back to civilization and am considering picking the sport back up. Here's what I'd like to do. Harvest the game animal, use a wheeled thingy to transport it back to my truck (I'm too old/bad...
I don't have one yet. Thus far I've owned four: 2 Remington 700 BDLs, a Remington 740 Woodsmaster and a Winchester 94, but for various reasons sold them all.
I'm a left handed shooter and currently have no big game rifle. I've narrowed my choices to one of three rifles: Browning Stalker stainless in 30-06, Tikka T3 Stainless in 308, and the Remington XCR in 270 Winchester. These are the most likely candidates because they are stainless and because...
My father in law might let me hunt coyote on his farm, so I'm looking for a 223 bullet that will be less likely to just keep on going and going......
Is there such a thing? I see on midway's website they sell frangible 223. How is that?
thanx
Police are investigating after a man was shot in the leg overnight.
