Need suggestions for refining .204 loads

Gun is a Savage M-10 Precision Carbine in .204 with about 300 rounds down the tube. Dies used were Lee Collet neck die & Forster BR bullet seater. Nosler brass. All groups shot with SBK 39gr Blitz King & Fed 205 primer. All seated to same length. From left to right: 3 groups using 27.5gr...

    338 Fed - 1 in 10" twist bullets

My Sako 85 is bedded right and the bore is clean but it's shooting the 180 grain Nosler AB poorly in several loads tried. The twist is 1 in 10". Would the 200gr be more likely to produce good results with that twist? I wanted the 180 gr to work for farting around at the range. Thx Mike

PMC .223 55 gr FMJ Bronze - crimped?

I can buy 360 rounds of this ammo for $100. My Tikka T3 lite shoots this stuff into 3/4 moa so this would make some accurate plinking ammo. But I read here that PMC brass has crimped primer pockets and don't want to purchase a swager or other gizmo to make these reloadable. I don't own...

Ugh! Pistol primers in rifle ammo

I loaded up 20 338 Federal rounds using H-4895 and the Nosler 180gr AB, 5 groups of 4 rounds each in increasing increments per Hogden's loading data. As I was cleaning up today I noticed that the 100 pack of Winchester primers wasn't WLR, but WLP. Guy I bought them from had fiddled with the...

204 & Reloder 10-X preliminary test: Now what?

Data: All groups are: 5 rounds 100 yards Federal brass - Lee Collet neck sized Federal 205 primer Reloader 10-X powder Shot from my Savage Precision Carbine in .204 I'm not going to experiment further with the Nosler 32gr bullets I have as I like the BC of the 40 grainers. My intent is to load...

Precision reloading in the Hornady LNL?

So I'm blessed with a Savage in .204 that appears to shoot factory ammo in the .3's consistently and looking forward to taking it after PD's and ground squirrels next year. I'm set up to do "best quality" reloading for it with Lee Collet neck die and a Co-ax press. This would be for lower...

Snapped a decap pin on Lee neck collet die

Die was in a Co-ax press. 204 Ruger. I wasn't really paying attention. I guess all the "float" touted in that press means one has to be a bit careful as the pin is about to enter the flash hole. Looks like I've got to order a replacement direct from Lee. $4 each. Is it common to break...

    Flash hole deburring - 20 cal ?

I've got all this new .204 Rem brass and an RCBS Trim Mate. Reviews on RCBS' flash hole deburring rod suggest it's not much of a value. The Lyman and Possum Hollow universal hand tools only work down to .22 cal. Anyone have any ideas? Thx Mike

New brass in a new gun

Hi All It's my first post here. I just received a new 204 Ruger and have 300 new Rem brass cases to load for it after I find a load it likes. The empty Remington cases chamber easily in the gun and a bullet won't enter the case neck. Should the unfired brass be loaded up as is and shot to...
