Found this rusty old rifle moldering for the price of a tank of gas. Decided to try the bag of metal cleaner I've had around for a couple of years (I think it's a nickel/manganese alloy wool). About 5 minutes elbow work... Still has a ways to go, but I might have to pick up some more of this...

Every now and again I come upon a "story book" gun. A gun you can hold in your hands and immediately start to wonder "where the hell have you been?". I'm not speaking of the ones that spent the last 80 years sitting in a box on a shelf remaining in 'as new' or in a transit chest in some armory...

Truly the answer is I wouldn't have anything to do in my spare time, and I do like to scrounge up stuff to make it mine... For instance: FNH doesn't make their SPR in but one calibre and although .308 is quite spiffy, how about .243? And although the stock choices are nice, how about an M40a1...
