Got a scope mount for my M1 (IAI), but it requies removal of rear sight. Is there anything holding it in dovetail, or just friction, and I can tap it out? Would it be epoxyed in?

Any suggestions for a scope on an M1 Carbine? I don't think anything over 4X is needed, as I don't think the cartridge is really that useful beyond that range. Don't want to spend too much, basically just for plinking, target shooting, etc.
