Chinese SKS - Can't get my zero!?

I feel really stupid even asking/posting this. This has in some form been asked time and time again. And I'm an experienced competition shooter. But here we go. I took my Chinese SKS out today for the first time to dial it in and just have a range day...firing Wolf 122gr steel cased ammo...

    1911 Warm Loads / .45 Super & Springs

I have been reading up on .45 Super conversions. There seems to be some controversy in the method of re-springing the 1911 to handle the higher recoil. The mainstay of replacing the firing pin stop with a flat bottom makes sense to me, but this also goes in hand with beefing up the mainspring...

    Experiences with IMR SR4756

Just curious if anyone has loaded 9mm, 40, 45 with SR4756 and your opinions on the powder. Cleanliness, metering, performance...etc. I did not know that this powder was discontinued until this past week. I have 5 or 6 lbs of it unopened I had nabbed up during the prior powder shortage.

    Glock Dot Connector

Where can I find an OEM glock dot "." connector? They seem to be quite hard to find. All online sources I have checked do not have them. Although, minus "-" connectors and 5.5 (stock) are available. I have a stock Glock 19 GEN4, factory fitted with the Dot connector. I really like the...

    Loose Front Sight - 1911

I have a PT1911 with the factory front sight (Heinie) which has their (proprietary?) dovetail and set screw. The front sight always loosens up after a range session. Not to where it is going to be thrown off the slide, but a decent wobble. I have tightened the site back on using blue loctite...

    RED DOT

CAUTION: The following post includes load data generated by calculation in QuickLOAD software based on a particular powder lot, the assumption the primer is as mild as possible, and assumptions about component, chamber and gun geometry that may not correspond well to what you have. Such data...

    Inventive idea for brass sorting

An idea had came to me, randomly, and in theory, would work and be a nice little gismo to have - but creating one, I don't know where or how one would start. For us reloaders who like to keep track of our brass by sorting them by the number if times they have been fired - we, usually collect...

    Dating a Norinco 84s

I purchased a preban Norinco 84s. It's pretty common knowledge that these guns were imported prior and up to 1989 before the importation ban. I am just curious if there is any way to find the actual date of manufacture of the rifle.

    SKS Prices...insane variations

We all know years ago SKSs were a dime a dozen. Could find them anywhere, cheap. The Russian ones dried up and commanded premium prices. The Albanian ones, I've yet to hold one and can't comment there. The ugly and heavy Yugos were cram jammed in buckets of the dozens. Well...things dried...

    Scope ring installation

I recently just mounted a SWFA SS scope to my Savage MKII BV. The rings I use, I forgot exactly what brand or when/where I bought them, but were quality rings. I after going through all the procedures...leveling action...setting my eye relief...leveling scope...yada yada...I had everything...

Help! Looking for a Sporter Stock for Intermidiate Length Action

Looking to replace a sporter stock for a M1924 Mauser, large ring, military barrel. Gun has been tuned and tricked out for competition, however, the original (vintage Walnut Stock) is not taking the recoil so well. The stock did not have cross bolts. Looking to replace the stock with a...

Dang it - Another Glock rear sight complaint

I have a Glock 23 gen 3. I have two major complaints in the form of a question. #1 - The gen 2's had a half circle cut in the magwell. This was eliminated in the gen 3's. To me, this feature seems beneficial. The cut, much like beveling a 1911 magwell, would seemingly help in rapid magazine...

    Free Floating

I have removed material and free floated my barrel in preparations prior to glass bedding. Should the bare wood beneath the barrel be sealed somehow? Should I leave it as bare wood, finish it as I would finish the exterior of the rifle (Tung Oil), or use one of them MinWax Wood Hardener...

AR-15 - Fixed Carry handle vs. Flat Top (A2 sights)

I am curious as to the rear sight height on 16" carbine length rifles with 6/3 marked elevation drums at mechanical O, or rather, the elevation drum bottomed out at 6/3. I had been comparing my Stag Arms AR-15 16" carbine (M4gery) with my Preban Light Weight Colt Sporter. I keep all my rifles...

M1924 Sporter - cracking at tang

My uncle recently discovered a M1924 Mauser in his father's attic. It had been sitting up there for 25+ years. He gave it to me to go through it, clean it up...etc. It's amazing in pristine condition. All matching ( :( sadly somebody took a very nice M1924 and sporterized it - i.e., bent...

    Windage - What's going on?

I am a former competitive shooter, on all types of military rifles, but started and ran with a Match AR-15, being vastly familiar. I acquired a PreBan Colt Sporter (1978), to me, appeared to have approximately 20 rounds through it. It's in pristine condition - via bolt face and the apparent...

    8x57 Projectile Weight

I don't reload 8mm mauser, as of yet, because I have much surplus still left to burn. I have many 8mm mausers, from K98s to the m24/47 and the M-48s... I understand the original German loading utilized a 198grain bullet. I don't know exactly what twist rate is or has been commonly utilized in...

    168gr Federal Gold Metal Match

My gunsmith recently finished tuning the trigger on my M14 build, unitizing gas cylinder and mounting a Leupold Mk IV scope. He took the gun to his club to bore sight it for me. It shot a 3 round .4" group. He was using .308 Federal Gold Metal Match 168 grain bullets. I'm more of a reloader...

    Nylon versus Steel

I have a H&R .22 revolver I recently took apart for through cleaning and lubrication. Nonetheless, I found the original nylon mainspring cracked nearly in half. I ordered a new mainspring guide rod and spring from Numrich, being wise, replacing it with a steel one instead of another nylon one...
