    Picked up an odd one!

Was at my local gunshop last evening and saw an odd caliber that I just had to have. I am a bit funny that way, liking at least a few odd ones. It was a Savage 340 chambered in 225 Winchester. I do reload, and the gun came with a RCBS die set, a full box of winchester 55 grain factory ammo...

    I like pretty wood!

This is the stock on my Mauser getting new life as a 358 winchester! I love the wood on this particular one. I believe it will be a pretty looking rifle! Malcolm Ballistic tooling from Arkansas is doing the work.

Ruger M77 MKII in 260 Rem value?

I have a Ruger M77 MK II chambered in 260 Rem that I got new in 2003. A friend told me he didn't know Ruger offered a M77 MKII in 260, and thought maybe I should hang on to it due to it being worth something someday. Thoughts? I really don't have any plans to sell it, but was thinking of...

Recommend varmint rifle and scope on budget

I am looking at getting a 22-250 for groundhogs/ coyotes. Can anybody recommend a specific rifle and or scope? I would like a scope with at least 12 magnification. I would prefer a rifle with a heavier/ varmint contour barrel. I have an absolute max budget of $750. I do not know if this matters...

    400 FPS under manual?

I loaded up some 55 grain nosler varmint bullets for a 243. According to nosler, I should have been getting 3950 with the load I was using. I got 3485. That got me wondering as to why the big discrepancy? Load info...Once fired Rem brass, CCI#200 primer, powder was 50 grains of H4350...

    Another question (lead vs copper)

A have been looking at another load for my 260 Rem. I am looking at the 120 ttsx or the 125 nosler partition. Or maybe a 100 grain partition or ttsx. On paper the performance is so near identical as to not make a difference. I am trying to decide which one to go with. I thought of the way the...

What kind of Extreme spread is acceptable

I was out shooting on Saturday and was not sure what to think of my extreme spread. Only one load was down below 40. Most were 65 or so. I thought I could surely get better than that. Or is this an acceptable range? If not, what can I do to fix it?

    Winchester reloading components?

Did Winchester make some reloading components? I bought some .358 250 grain flatpoints from a guy, and he said he had them marked as Winchester. If they did, where can I find info on them such as sectional density and B.C.?

    120 core-lokt in 260 Remington?

I am out of my 140 grain Accubonds for my 260, and I need to load something else for the gun. I liked the Accubonds, but they seem to bee to much bullet for what i need. I hunt thick woods where 75 yards is far. I used the Accubonds successfully on 2 deer, but lost one due to little blood. I...

    260 strikes again

Was out on Saturday, last day of Pa gun season, and shot the biggest buck I have ever shot. Granted I had only shot 2 others, and both small. This one was a nice 8 point. Rough score puts him at 127 inches. Shot him with a 140 grain accubond over reloader 19 with a velocity of 2650. Shot was...

    Hornady FTX at higher velocity

Did any of you all run the FTX bullet at higher velocities, and use them on game? I know a guy that is a gunsmith and took a 45/70 and necked it down to 30 caliber. He used the 165 grain FTX and ran them at a MV of 2600. He took 3 deer with it this past weekend, and reported fantastic success...

Which bullet 180-200 grain for 358 Winchester?

I am trying to get some components together for when my 358 gets finished. I have never had a 358 before, and am thinking of loading 2 different types of rounds. The first I would like to load is a 180-200 grain bullet pushed pretty fast for whitetail. I am thinking in the 2600-2700 range. (Gun...

    358 Winchester case capacity

I am getting a 358 Winchester built, and it is getting wrapped up. It is being built of a 1918 large ring mauser. I was looking up some load data, and it seems like case capacity is often the limiting factor in this round. Is this the case? I am thinking I may need to get a drop tube in order to...

125 Grain Partitions in 260 with 1:8 twist

I have a Ruger M77 chambered in 260 that I have shot for some time. I am wanting to try the 125 grain partitions in my gun, but am not sure how they will stabilize with a 1:8 twist. ( i emailed Ruger and they told me that it has a 1:8 twist.) I know generally people would be shooting 140 grain...

    Heavier Recoil spring?

Hello, am rather new to handguns. Just purchased a Ruger SR45 and am really enjoying the shooting experience! However, I read on Buffalo Bore's website that when running their ammo, it might be a good idea to get a heavier recoil spring. How heavy should I go? and is it a good idea to keep the...

I recently bought a new Marlin 1895 SBL in 45-70. This one of the new ones; I had to wait 4 months after the gun shop ordered it to receive it. I am very very happy with it! Hog Hunting

I am looking at doing some hog hunting this summer. I have never shot a hog and need some advice. I was doing some research on the internet, and soon came to the conclusion that there is some disagreement on what the best method is. Some say behind the ear, some say through the shoulders. So I...
