    .44 mag for Ruger Carbine

I have the old style (tube fed) Ruger .44 Mag carbine. I want to load some 240 gr. soft point bullets for deer hunting loads. My question is, is there some powders that work best to produce a pressure curve that is appropriate for that rifle? The only other autoloading rifle I have loaded for is...

    Oh fudge!

There I was happily priming 9mm brass for the wife when I noticed rounds 300 through 400 that I primed and tossed into a common container with rounds 0-300 had been primed with CCI magnum small pistol primers. The first 300 were CCI standard small pistol. I had intended to load 4.4 grains HP38...

    Optimum Charge Weight

Loaded up a test sample for Dan Newberry's OCW method for my .220 swift. Cant try them till Saturday. I'm looking for input from others who have tried this method. What range did you run the test at? I'm wondering if a heavy barreled .220 (Cooper) will change POI enough at 100 yrds to evaluate...

    Dura what?

Had a friend stop by with a handful of .22's. Plastic stuff mostly. I dug deep and came up with the trusty Dura-matic. Haven't shot it for a while but it did the job. Made his "modern" handguns look like pikers. Put 8 on a snuff can at roughly 20 yards. No school like the old school!

    Daddy's .32

My father left me a Harington & Richards .32 top break. The latest patten is 1896 on the top of the barrel. I can't see anywhere on there which .32 it shoots. A .32 colt long fits in the cylinder, but seems sloppy. Anyone know what cartridge these magnificent mechanical marvels digest?

    .44 Dragoon

Re-reading Elmer's Gun Notes Vol. 1 on a rainy December day in Minnesota (that don't happen too often). I feel a need to drag out the "Ruger .44 Dragoon" as the grand old man called the Super Blackhawk. Mine still has the half cock loading. Guess I'll have to wait for it to stop raining.

    Say what you want...

Say what you want, but I was out at the range today and ran 50 rounds through my 720 Rossi. 185 gr wadcutter over trailboss powder. Just good clean fun and that is a nice little revolver. I have numerous hand guns. Smiths, Rugers, Springfield, Remington Rand so I know what nice feels like. That...

    M1 is fun

Playing at 200 yards with my Garand today. Hit the 12 inch gong six out of eight. Thats pretty good for me with those sights. (My eyes like a scope these days). Lord I love to hear that ping

    9mm 1911 for bride

My wife has arthritis and is unable to rack the slide on a .45 1911. Is this a lot easier on the 9mm 1911s? I thought of 38 super, but brass hard to find and expensive (so are the pistols). She tried Cathy Jackson's tecnique, but her hands just couldn't do it. She wants to try IDPA/IPSC and...
