I just want to know if this is a good starter semi auto pistol. I won't use it for self defense unless I absoluty have to. I would just be using it for target shooting. I also don't care about how it looks and the weight. So any thoughts

The bolt on my hi point 9mm carbine keeps getting stuck open. it is clean but does this a lot and don't know why. the way it gets stuck is the bolt won't go back or forward,I know it isn't a stay open bolt. Any ideas on why this would happen and how to correct it
