    CLAYCO AK?

Anyone ever hear about a Clayco branded AK? The only information I've found indicates that they are pre-Norinco Chinese imports. Circa early 1980s (earlier?). If anyone has one or has had one, could you tell me what markings should be where to ensure this is authentic? TIA.

California State Senator Leland Yee Indicted

CA State Senator Leland Yee (D-San Francisco) was indicted today, along with a known criminal associate Raymond "Shrimp Boy" Chow, on a number of corruption and criminal charges to include..."trafficking in firearms." To those unfamiliar (CA TFLers probably know the name well), Yee sponsored...

    Aimpoint Comp M2 Questions

I have an Aimpoint Comp M2 that is missing some parts and am having a heck of a time finding them. 1) Set screw for the brightness adjuster knob - I finally found a new adjuster knob, but it did not come with the set screws to secure it to the adjuster shaft. A 4-40 would not fit, nor would a...

    ELCAN optics mount question...

I have an ELCAN optics mount which I can't quite figure out. It is an, "Elcan GEN-4-SSL Optical Sight Mount (.223)" which has adjustability for zero in the base. It is identical to this one: http://www.mountsplus.com/miva/merchant.mvc?store_code=MSP&screen=PROD&product_code=ATI-ELC-556-MT...

    Speer Gold Dot .223

Just picked up some Speer Gold Dot .223. It comes in a black box, with a gold stylized 's' swoop in the background and says, "Speer LE Gold Dot Duty Ammunition," on the front and, ".223 REM 64 GR GDSP," on the small ends. The bullet truncates at the nose, where the flat tip exposes just a...

    Beretta 96D Brigadier concealment holster

Looking for a concealment holster for a Beretta 96D Brigadier. Yeah, it's a hefty piece, but it's also a duty piece, so... Any ideas? I'd prefer an inside the waistband style, but am open to most possibilities.

Admit it, you value rifles greater than pistols.

Thought I'd sneak in a new topic under the wire. Whenever I prepare to go shooting, the first consideration is what rifles should go. Almost as an afterthought, and if there's room, I'll toss in a pistol or two. How many others lopsidedly favor rifles over pistols?

    Pt. Mugu Airshow

Went to the Pt Mugu Airshow today. You've probably already heard. A diamond formation of two F-4's and two F-14's did a flyby before landing. On the brake, the leftmost F-4's left engine sputtered and shot flames out the back. Then it crashed. The back seater ejected, but didn't do it in time...

    US Vz-58 aka Vz-2000

I was thumbing through one of the gun rags yesterday and came across an article that said that Ohio Ordnance was making milled steel receivers and putting together complete Vz-58 semi-only guns. I was in a bit of a hurry, so I didn't get the full scoop, but I want to say they were to be priced...

    Brake parts cleaner revisited...

We've pretty much established that automotive brake parts cleaner is bad ju-ju for the plastic parts on our guns. Here's one that most people probably haven't come across: Honda Brake/Contact Cleaner. The can says it's safe for o-ring chains, painted surfaces, plastic, etc. I used it to clean...

Ruger 22/45 price check and info

Hey, A local retailer has the Ruger 22/45, with 5.5" bull barrel and adjustable sights, for $200. Is this a decent price? I actually would prefer the "Backpack" version with a 4" barrel, but that's not the one that is on sale now. I've fired the Ruger Mk2, but never the 22/45 version. What's...

    Used M1A values

I'm going to take a look at a used M1A in a few days for a friend. The asking price is $750, but I'm not sure of the rifle's manufacture. I figure this is dirt cheap for a Springfield Armory M1A that's in decent shape. True? I'm aware of the Chinese M1As, but what to look for if it is? What's...

    Broken Ruger Mk2

A friend of mine has a Ruger Mk2 that went down with a broken part some time ago. The broken part is the pin that is attached at the bottom to the mainspring housing (sort of a cassette affair) and protrudes up into the receiver to keep the bolt inside the receiver and appears to be acted upon...

    Star Super to 9mm conversion?

I have a Star model "Super" that I'd like to convert to 9mm para. I know Federal Arms makes conversion barrels for the model "B", but they won't work in a model "Super" (at least that's what Brownell's says). Is there a way I can do this and if so, what would the ballpark price be?

    Star Super conversion

Have a Star Super in .38 Super, of course. Want to convert it to 9mm Para by swapping in a Star Model B barrel. Can I do this? If so, does anyone have leads on a Model B barrel? Thanks

Help pick Bush's running mate (maybe)

www.bushrunningmate.com is doing ratings (best and worst), comments, and so on. Some of the results are interesting, such as Keyes being the top "favorite contender". I don't know how many votes have been cast so far, but all need to add their 2 cents. Personally, I voted for Keyes. His is a...

    Wolf Recoil Springs

I just received some Wolf Recoil Springs for my CZ-75. Two springs are included in the kit: the actual recoil spring and a firing pin/striker spring. The recoil spring a a bit longer than the original, but not enough to cause a problem. The firing pin spring is about 4 times longer than the...

Anyone see South Park tonight (26Apr00)?

Pretty funny. They had Janet Reno in an Easter Bunny costume and assault rifle, "rescueing" a group of Romanian children who were supposed to be "reunited" with their father. Apparently these guys aren't too keen on that "rescue" either. They must have really cranked that one out.
