    Very low velocity

I purchased from Choice Ammunition a box of 200g 45 Schofield ammunition. The velocity as shown on the box is 465 fps. I have never seen any 45 ammunition loaded to this low velocity. It spooks me. I am concerned this could stick a bullet in the barrel. I have checked 3 reloading manuals and no...

    Fake scope

Saw my first fake Leupold scope in a pawn shop today. At first glance it looks good but look at it in detail you can see that it is fake. Be careful what you buy.

    Better off not knowing

I recently acquired a Taylor baby rolling block in 45 colt. Plinked with it and decided to clean the bore. After cleaning I decided to examine it with one of the Teslong endoscopes. See the attached picture. Apparently the reamer had a defect and it left the transverse mark shown. The mark...

    Cannelure on case-why

I have some old Winchester 45 Colt cases which have a small thin cannelure about 0.84' up from the head of the case. RP and Starline do not have them. Why are they there? These cases are old and this cannelure seems to be a failure point on the case. The case eventually cracks at this point.

    Cimarron No. 3 American

Anybody familiar with the top latch on these revolvers? Mine is jammed and the gun will not open. This gun is not a Schofield replica so does not have the frame mounted latch. The latch is supposed to simply push up to unlock the gun. I have not been able to find an exploded view of this type...

    AA 4064

I normally use IMR 4064 and IMR 4895 in my Garand but managed to land some AA 4064. AA 4064 and IMR 4064 are not the same powder. Has anyone loaded for a Garand using this powder? I searched and did not come up with much published data specifically for use in the Garand.

Sometimes it is fun to be old and forgetful

This will absolutely make a dedicated Garand guy barf. On 9-10 I had posted about some M2 Ball and a my Garand. This week my wife sent me into our junk shed to look for some item she had stored. Glory Be! I found a brand new never used Ram Line synthetic stock complete with metal for an M1...

    Extreme point of impact change

Have my Ruger 77 in 30-06 sighted dead on at 100 yds using 150 gr. Nosler Partition with 46.0 gr. BLC-2. Velocity 2790 fps. Tried some factory Remington 150 gr. Core Lokts. When I fired them they grouped 6.5 inches higher than my hand loads. Windage was exactly the same. Published velocity of...

    Marlin 1892 and 32 S&W Long

I own a Marlin 1892 with a 24" barrel which I had relined and chambered in 32 S&W long. The original chambering of the gun was 32 Short and Long Rim Fire or with a center fire firing pin installed the 32 Short or Long Colt. According to Wiki the original ballistics of the 32 Rim Fire Long was...
