Just curious if anyone has any of the 4007 powder lots being recalled. I had an 8 pound keg, and contacted Hodgdon this morning. Replacement was quick and easy.

Have you ever worn out a rifle sizing die?

Just curious if you have ever worn out a standard F/L rifle sizing die. And if you did, how many rounds had you sized with it, and how did you know it was worn out? I am approaching 30K rounds through my Redding 223 die and all still seems well. I always clean my brass well prior to sizing...

Oversize primer pockets on rifle brass

What is your test or criteria for deciding when rifle brass primer pockets have enlarged too much and the brass needs recycled? I have some once fired LC 5.56 brass that some of the rounds showed high pressure signs. Brass flow into the ejector opening and varying degrees of loose primer pockets.

Any IMR 4320 lovers out there?

I load for a wide variety of calibers and have tended to favor IMR powders. I have never used 4320 much, and just would like to know what calibers/bullet weights you have found 4320 to perform well in. Don't need powder loadings, just would like to hear about your positive experiences.

Honing the neck of a full length sizing die

If you have opened up the neck of your FL sizing die, could you share where you bought your flex hone? I saw a link in a thread by Unclenick, but can't find it now. What size hone would you use for a .224 diameter bullet case?

Pressure increase when bullet is into lands?

Is there a rule of thumb guideline for the approximate increase in pressure when you seat the bullet long and it is jammed into the lands of your rifle? I seem to recall the estimated increase is around 7K PSI. My reason for asking is I am going to fire forming some 22-250 AI brass, and I...

    22-250 1-14" twist, 55 or 50 grain?

Just curious which bullet weight you get the best accuracy results. 22-250 Remington, 1 in 14" twist, do you tend to get better accuracy with 50 grain or 55 grain bullets?

Longitudinal splits in new 22-250 brass

I recently encountered some case failures on W-W Super 22-250 rifle brass. The brass was new old stock, had been loaded for several years. 3 of the first 17 rounds fired has case failures. Some specifics - The brass had the neck expanded prior to loading but had not been sized, it was new...

Remington 700 vs sf & vs sf II differences

I can see the current specs for the Remington 700 vs sf II, but I am interested in the differences between the vs sf and the recently discontinued vs sf II. I realize they added the second swivel stud on the forearm, but what are the other differences?

Bullet concentricity - what is the most meaningful measurement?

I want to improve the concentricity of my future rifle loads. I had access to a Redding and a Hornady tool and measured some of my previous loads. I realize the Redding measures relative to the case body. Most of my loads were running about .005-.007" T.I.R. The same loads when checked on...

Is the CCI BR4 primer an upgrade from Rem 7 1/2?

I have been using the Remington 7 1/2 bench rest primer for my accuracy loads. Anyone have any experience with the CCI BR4 bench rest primer and if you found better consistency with the CCI primer? Looks like the cost for the CCI is about 50% higher than the Remington, so I just was curious if...

Redding Type S Bushing Die - anyone using?

I just wanted to check to see if anyone was using the Redding Type S die where you control how much the neck is sized by using different bushings. Do you have any experience with improved accuracy or longer case life?

Remington 58 - removal of the pistol grip cap

I need to remove the plastic pistol grip cap from a Remington Sportsman Model 58. I don't mind damaging the stock to do so. Anyone have experience on how to remove the plastic pistol grip cap without breaking it? I'm not sure if it is just glued on, or if a portion of the cap extends into the...

    S&W L Frame torture test.

In this video they reduced charges until they stuck a bullet in the barrel. Then they fired 2 more further reduced loads. So now there are 3 bullets in the barrel. The last step is to fire a full power round. I wouldn't have believed the cylinder didn't come apart, but the only damage was a...

    Primer tray initiation

Just curious if anyone has experienced having a tray of primers initiate? I have a carton of Winchester WSP primers where 61 primers in one tray initiated. Since I had used primers from the tray on top of it before and not noticed it, it might have happened while it was stored on my shelf...

Using a Lee FCD for sizing revolver brass?

I'm trying to avoid the step that my carbide die leaves on revolver brass when resizing. I "thought" I read somewhere where somebody used the Lee FCD full length, then just used the carbide die on the case top half for bullet tension. Anybody doing this? It seems to make sense to me.

Any secrets for "quckly" applying Imperial Sizing Die Wax?

I've tried Imperial and like the way it lubes the cases, but haven't come up with a good way to quickly apply it uniformly. I currently put a small amount on my fingers and spin the cases with my fingers. But I find that to be really slow when I am sizing a large quantity of brass. So how...
