    Pistol primer in 308 problem

After loading 45 acp I switched over to 308. I always count my primers to Make sure I have the exact amount of primers to cases. I ended up with an extra primer after a hundred rounds of 308. Didn’t think much of it until today I noticed the last primer failed to load. Now I’m worried one of my...

    My first squib yay

As the title leads I had my first squib load today. Been reloading for 7 years and now my confidence has sunk. Load was 45 acp 4.2 grains of VV N-310 with a Berrys 230 RN shot in an AR 45 8in barrel. I know heavy bullets with fast powder is always more susceptible to this. Loading on a LNL...

    WW2 45 brass specs

I’ve been loading 45 ammo for suppressor use with mixed range brass for plinking. My LNL progressive jammed up a few times during priming. 9 times out of 10 it was military brass ranging from 1942-67 ish but mainly the 1940’s stuff. It seems to me the primer pockets are too shallow or possibly...

    308 Interlock to SST = +150 FPS

My original load was 50 grains 2000MR with Hornadys 150 Interlock flat based that chrono’d 2600. Recently picked up an SFAR and loaded some SST’s instead. Same load, brass and primer but it measured 2750 FPS. I double checked the interlocks and they still shot at 2600. What gives? More than...

    Brass tumbling anomaly

For the life of me I can’t figure out why my 45 ACP brass collects along the outside of my tumbler facing upward. It makes cleaning the brass take longer than it should. Do I have too much or not enough media? See attached photo

    Glock bulge issue

45 acp Berrys plated bullets OAL 1.245 mixed once fired brass. I loaded up a few hundred and plunk tested in an XD-S barrel before my Wilson case gauge arrived. Yes I’ve now identified the issue with that. Long story short the loaded ammo binds up at the very end of the case gauge. Are these...

45 ACP AR FTF with with full mag

With my CMMG Banshee I loaded some Berrys hybrid hollow points (230gr) to 1.195-1.200 OAL in order to pass the plunk test in a XD-S barrel. However occasionally I get a FTF where the nose gets shoved up into the chamber and doesn’t feed. It only happens when the magazine (SGM) is loaded to max...

    Loaded round hard to extract

Gonna keep this short and sweet. Bought new starline 458 Socom brass. I sized, chamfered and deburred. Rounds chambered in and out fine after seating the bullets deep enough. Shot many rounds wonderfully. Took once fired shells and cleaned then resized and checked OAL. Made the same load but...

    Why all glossy finishes?

I am still relatively new to powder coating and when picking color sheens I really prefer flat black but ultimately decided on semi gloss since it seems nearly everyone uses a high gloss finish. Is there a reason or benefit to this? I imagine there are more lubricating properties to gloss which...

    Subsonic .458 Socom

Data for this topic is very limited but I have been loading 14.3 grains of HS-6 with a 400 grain powder coated cast HP. Shoots well and expands like crazy but I worry about low case fill. I have recently picked up 8lbs of CFE Blk which has establish loads for supersonic with a starting load of...

    Tight .458 Socom load

My first attempt at 458 Socom. Tromix 10.5 upper. 400 grain GT Bullets hollow point powder coated then sized to .459 in lee sizing die. Long story short they are hard to extract. Almost have to mortar it to get a loaded round out of the chamber. Got the Tromix case gauge and determined it the...

    Too much sizing?

I need my cast Bullets (10 BHN) at .459 for my 458 Socom. As cast they come out at .465. After powder coating they are almost .470. They resize fine and pass the smash test but I still feel uneasy resizing that much so should I resize before and after powder coat?

    Lube needed to size?

I’m sizing for the first time and need to size some GT 45-70 bullets before powder coating. Do I have to lube the bullet to get it through the Lee sizing die? I hope not as I’d have to clean it all off before powder coating.

Cast HP expansion results 45 Colt

For anyone interested I attached a picture of a 255 Grain cast HP made by GT bullets. My load chrono’s at 1000fps from my 5.5 in blackhawk. I didn’t have ballistics gel so I used water. Obviously this is not an ideal test media but it worked. Expansion was approximately 7/8 of an inch.

No way this primer is real!?

A friend of mine found this round behind one of his safes in his fathers old shop. The primer appears to be melted lead? Anyone wanna test fire it to let me know if it works!?

    M77 300WM value estimate?

I have a Ruger MKII all weather 300 win mag id like to sell to a friend possibly. I just don’t know where to begin with a price. It’s in great condition with a hogue overmold full bedded stock, fully floated barrel, warne maxim rings, Redfield Revolution 4x12, and has a professional trigger job...

    Is this overpressured?

Just tested 556 loads. New lake city brass. CCI 41’s, 2000mr powder starting under speers starting load with. 62gr gold dot. Started at 27 gr in increments up to 29 gr. (Max is 30.2) The primers all seem equally flattened with zero cratering. I reached the velocity I wanted at 28.5 gr (2936 FPS)...

Is this round safe to fire?

I loaded my first batch of 308. I found a round that had a small bulge around the neck. I believe some powder got stuck in the neck during the seating process since I can often see kernels stick to the inside of the neck. I showed two of my reloading buddies who say it’s safe to fire. Just want...

Adjusting OAL after crimp is set

I had my LNL seater/crimp die all set up for 45 colt. As I made a few rounds today I decided to shorten the OAL just a smidge from 1.600 to 1.590. I just twisted the seater knob a little bit and got the desired length. I realized after my batch that I had not reset the crimp. Will it make a...

    Power Pro 2000mr 308

I'm going to reload 308 for the first time and I've read about multiple types of powder and decided on Alliant Power Pro 2000mr due to its ability to meter well in a drum style powder dispenser and not being super temperature sensitive. Hornady lists a max charge of 51.2gr with a 150gr bullet...
