    Rolling Block question

Own a #5 rolling block Remington in 7x57.....1902 probably. Bore in it is decent, but problem in chamber in shoulder/neck. Have toyed with idea of just rebarreling it, perhaps to another 7x57, or maybe a 250 Savage. Just curious if its possible to just set the barrel back and run a 7x57...

    Academy Sports Clearance on Rifles/Shotguns

For you gents in the South, with an Academy Sports and Outdoors store in your area. Visited my local Academy store outside Houston, Tx today and found they had a fair variety of rifles and shotguns on clearance. Basically, at least $100 lowered in price. For example, my store stocked the...

    Midway has blemished bullets

I check Midway for blemished bullets once or twice a week. Found Midway again had various calibers of blems to sell. Ordered some I could use.

    cartridge neck thickness in 308

Past weekend, I'd installed a nice Shilen 308 heavy barrel in a Stevens 200 receiver. Barrel was given to me by a fellow range member who'd put a little less than 400 rds thru it. He had no accuracy problems with the barrel, just decided he wanted another cartridge to shoot. After...

    Lucky at range

Well, lucky in that a fellow member was there who had a local gunsmith build a 25-06 mauser 98 actioned rifle about 8 months ago. Knew the gent had a problem getting the rifle to shoot worth a hoot. Its a long story, but when he first got the rifle, 3"-4" 100 yd groups were typical. Knew he'd...

    Accurate 4064 and 4350 powders

Gents, early today placed an order with Graf and Sons for some Accurate 2700, 4064 and 4350 powders. Have used the 2700 for a couple of cartridges I reload and like it. Usually use IMR or Hodgdon 4064 or 4350 powders. Curious if anyone has any comments to make about Accurates's 4064 or 4350...

    Shortening a 1891 Argentine Magazine

I bought a slightly sporterized 1891 Argentine 7.65 mauser for deer hunting back in the mid 60s. After well over a 30 year absence from guns and shooting, I decided to have my 91 argy rebarreled to 257 Roberts and put it in a nice sporter stock. It looked good and shot quite well for me...

    2010 Hodgdon's Manual

Visited local Wal-Mart today and noticed Hodgdon's 2010 Reloading Manual was in the magazine section. With tax, cost me about $8.50 Of course, you can use the Hodgdon website for reload data, but prefer having a manual when I'm reloading at my workbench.

correct weight bullet for my barrel twist rate?

I have a couple of surplus rifle sporters that are rebarreled to 257Roberts. Both have a 21inch barrel and a 1 in 10 rifle twist rate. Of the 75, 87, 100 or 117grain jacketed 25 cal bullets I have, which of these grain bullets should be the most accurate one for my twist?

    Firing pin & trigger questions

Finally went to range to shoot a 1891 Argentine Mauser, I'd had rebarreled to 257 Roberts. Wanted to try it out and tune scope I'd bore sighted. Sorry, Mauser purists, but previous owner had sporterized it and ruined its collector value. Any way, it's going to be a tack driver when I overcome...

    257 Roberts load data

Have a 1891 Argentine mauser rebarreled to 257 Roberts. Gunsmith said DO NOT shoot +P ammo in it. Any one have load data for 87 gr jacketed bullets using H380 or IMR3031 powder.

    powder substitution question

Have a newbie question. Want to reload 43 Spanish ammo to shoot in a Remington rolling block that I once reloaded ammo for and shot over 40 years ago. I have a can of IMR 3031 powder I want to use, but cannot find a published load using it. Noticed that Alliant's Reloader 7 powder has a very...

    43 Spanish load data

After an absence of over 30 years I'm about to begin reloading again. Have a circa 1871 Remington Rolling Block in 43Spanish, which is very similiar to 11mm/43 Mauser or 43 Egyptian. Its in very good condition. Don't want to use black powder. Have a can of IMR3031 powder and 370 grain cast...
