Traditions St. Louis Hawken Kit build

My wife gave me one of the Traditions Hawken .50 caliber kits for Christmas. Just finished it. I replaced the plastic sights with some that I think look much better. I filled the threaded holes in the barrel and cut a dove tail. The stock color came out real nice. My old digital camera doesn't...

Iver Johnson .32 3rd Model Top Break

I have had this old pistol for years and have slowly been finding parts for it. I finally have everything I need to finish, but I cannot for the life of me see how the trigger return spring goes in. I have found pictures of everything else, but not detailed pictures of that part. The 3rd model...

Well I got bored and this happened. I took my riot version and made a trench version. I really like the heatshield I got from Numrich. TK

    Norinco 1897 Riot

I wanted one of these for a while. I found this one on Gunbroker and the price was right so I got one. They were listed as used and had been test fired. I was pleased with what I got and it only had a couple of small dings in the stock. Otherwise it looked new. I took it to the range and tried...

    My Traditions Kentucky Kit

So here is my Christmas present from my wife. It's a Kentucky rifle in .50 Cal kit from Traditions. It was a fun kit to build and was more of a challenge to do than I thought it would be. After watching Mike Beliveau's videos, I figured it was worth a shot. I made several mistakes, but I enjoyed...

    New Build in 300BLK

So I purchased the Radical Firearms upper and put it on a local built lower I purchased last week. The builds nice rifles locally and I have looked at them before. They don't off a .300 AAC version. I like the way it turned out looking forward to taking it to the range and trying it out. TK

    Retro Build Continues

Added a couple of accessories to my retro build. My eyes are having trouble with the peep sight and I need something for a scope. I didn't want anything too modern at this point so I found a inexpensive 4X retro looking scope. We see how it does at the range. I also purchased a original Conetta...

    Polymer 80 build and Review

I went ahead and ordered a couple of the Polymer 80 lowers when Midway had them on sale. Build went fine and everything went together as expected. I like my build, but has a few issues the first time out. Brought it back home and managed to figure it out. I would say that while these are cool...

    Polymer 80 Lowers

Anyone have experience with the Polymer 80 80% lowers. Midway keeps putting them on sale and it seems very tempting. I did machining work many years ago and have the tools. Are they durable? TK

    1887 Winchester Shotgun (CAI Version)

I always thought this model was cool. Arnold spin cocking it made we want one. I followed Coyote Cap when he was first trying to bring them to the market and didn't have the funds when they were finally available. Recently my interest has surged again and I was looking at them online. I saw this...

    M1868 Springfield Trapdoor Carbine

I have wanted a 50-70 carbine and I had a box of parts. I needed a barrel donor and wanted one I didn't feel too badly about cutting. I found this barrel and receiver and thee last 6 inches were toast. I cut it down and proceeded with the project. They originally only made 4 prototypes of these...

    1884 Springfield Trapdoor

Purchased a larger gun safe this week and so, need something else. I found this at a show this weekend. Missing the mainspring, cleaning rod and the top band is missing the sling and stacking swivels. Bore is in excellent conditional and I already replaced the mainspring and found a nice...

Nose Cap for Gary (Flintlock Rifle)

Well Gary suggested it and I thought it was a cool idea. 4V50 Gary, Well it's not poured, but I think it looks pretty good. Hard to work on a already finished stock without messing it up too much. I had to cut it back about 3/4" to get the stock to match up with the cap. TK

    My first Flintlock!

My wife purchased me a CVA .50 Plainsman Flintlock. Made in 1999, it is new in the box. I can't wait to take it out. I already have a percussion version, but always wanted to try a flinter. My basement test say that 3F will work in the pan. TK

    1851 Pietta Sheriff

I always wanted a brass framed revolver. I like the looks of the short barrel. I know about their limits and I intend to shoot light loads through it. I have a 1860 and 1858 steel frame, but I have R&D cylinders for them. I have plenty of lead round balls and powder and caps. Cabela's has these...

    Stevens Crackshot Model 26

My kind brother gave me this for my birthday. It's a very neat little rifle. The bore was very dirty, but is starting to clean up nicely. I think I'm going to need a extractor, but I found a source for them. My question is, where did they put the serial number on these? I can't seem to find it. TK

Pietta 1860 Army and Howell Conversion

So the wife purchased me a Howell 5 shot conversion for my 1860 Army for my birthday last month. After about 60 rounds, I noticed the collars are loose and the firing pins at peened in places. I have never dried fired the cylinder. I noticed that the hammer has a notch in it on the face. Could...

    Trapdoors

Thanks to Doc Hoy, my trapdoor addiction continues to grow. I enjoy shooting these so much. Always fun at the range with lots of smoke and fun questions. Love popping the 100 yard gong with these and look at the guys with the ARs with a smile! Thanks Doc! TK

    Swedish M67 Rolling Block

Well it took a long time, but I finally got a rolling block rifle. This is a Swedish M67 dated 1870 in 12.7x44R centerfire. Someone made a new tip for the cleaning rod. Can't wait to shoot it. Just need to make/get some brass for it. Big heavy rifle! TK

    Turkish Forestry Carbine

I picked this up yesterday at a show. It's made from a 1907 15 French Berthier rifle for the Turkish forestry in 1948. Caliber is 8mm Lebel and requires a special 3 round clip. Still has the 1950 dated sling. TK
